DASCO was founded in 1995 by alumni of Busan Mechanical High School. Initially starting with the localization of air conditioning units for ships, the company gradually transitioned into industrial heat exchangers, focusing exclusively on heat exchanger production for 20 years. CEO Lee Geun-young of DASCO commented, “Thanks to the dedicated employees who have been with us for many years, we were able to grow in one field and establish a strong position in the industry. With the global competition making manufacturing difficult, we targeted niche markets where we could compete with our technological strength. Through continuous development of heat exchanger technology, we have built DASCO into what it is today.”
The company has seen impressive revenue growth. In 2020, DASCO’s revenue was around 21 billion KRW, and it surged to 40.4 billion KRW last year. In 2022, DASCO won the 5 Million Dollar Export Tower, and last year it achieved the 10 Million Dollar Export Tower award. CEO Lee attributed this success to expanding overseas sales, diversifying customers and products, and investing in new product development. Major customers of DASCO, which supplies heat exchangers to shipyards and power plants, include Hanwha Power Systems, Doosan Energy, Sunbo Family (domestic), Atlas Copco, Air Liquide, Kobe Steel, and Mitsubishi (overseas).
Despite facing numerous challenges such as workforce training, technology development, limited factory space, and funding for facilities and operations, as well as the need to enter new markets with strong performance records, DASCO has overcome these obstacles and emerged even stronger. With increasing competition from China and India, DASCO is now accelerating its efforts to improve productivity and efficiency. CEO Lee stated, “Patent acquisition and technology development to secure price competitiveness are our key tasks. Through research and production of advanced products, we will continue to establish ourselves as an excellent and leading heat exchanger company in the global market.”
